About Shabeeha’s Training and Credentials
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO, and a member of the CCPA. I have a Master’s in Counselling Psychology with 10+ years of experience supporting individuals in mental health settings.
About Shabeeha
I have always been drawn to understanding people and the experiences that shape them. Through my work in mental health and psychiatric emergency care, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that people are often far more resilient than they realize, even when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward.
Working alongside individuals experiencing crisis, emotional pain, and significant life challenges has shown me that every person has a unique story. Often, the struggles we face make sense when viewed in the context of our experiences, relationships, and the ways we have learned to cope. For this reason, I do not see people as broken or in need of fixing. Instead, I see therapy as an opportunity to understand ourselves better, make sense of our experiences, and create meaningful change.
I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, and difficult life experiences. Some clients come to therapy with a clear idea of what they would like to work on, while others simply know that something does not feel right. Wherever you are on your journey, I strive to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and understood without judgment.
I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and tailored to the individual. Together, we can explore your experiences, build on your existing strengths, develop practical tools to navigate challenges, and work toward goals that feel meaningful to you. I hope that therapy becomes a space where you can gain greater clarity, confidence, and connection with yourself as you move forward.
I offer a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences openly. My approach is tailored to your unique needs and goals, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all path to healing. Depending on what feels most helpful, our work may involve developing practical coping strategies, exploring patterns that may be keeping you stuck, processing difficult experiences, strengthening relationships, or building greater self-awareness and self-compassion. My goal is to help you feel supported while also equipping you with tools and insights you can carry beyond our sessions.
Starting therapy can be a difficult first step. It can feel vulnerable to share parts of yourself with someone new, especially when life already feels overwhelming. My hope is to provide a space where you feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are. If anything in my approach resonates with you, I would be happy to connect and explore whether working together is the right fit.
Shabeeha’s Story
My journey toward becoming a therapist developed through both personal and professional experiences. For over a decade, I have worked in mental health settings, supporting individuals facing a wide range of challenges and life circumstances. Throughout that time, I found myself continually drawn to people’s stories, the resilience they demonstrate, and the ways they make sense of difficult experiences.
Working in psychiatric emergency care has been especially meaningful in shaping who I am as a therapist. I have had the privilege of supporting individuals during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, often when they felt overwhelmed, uncertain, or disconnected from hope. Those experiences reinforced my belief that people are often far more resilient than they realize, and that healing is not about fixing people, but about helping them better understand themselves, access their strengths, and navigate life’s challenges with support.
My experiences in mental health, along with my own appreciation for the value of self-reflection and personal growth, ultimately led me to pursue psychotherapy. I was drawn to the opportunity to create a space where people could feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges. Becoming a therapist has allowed me to bring together my professional experience, curiosity about human behaviour, and genuine desire to help others in a career that I find deeply meaningful.
As someone from a diverse cultural background, I am also passionate about creating a space where people from all communities feel welcome and respected. I recognize that culture, family, identity, and lived experiences shape how we understand ourselves and our struggles. Representation and cultural understanding matter, and I strive to approach every client with curiosity, humility, and respect for their unique experiences.
I aim to create a therapeutic space where people feel heard, understood, and accepted. I believe meaningful change can happen when we have the opportunity to explore our experiences openly, develop new perspectives, build on our strengths, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
