Couple Therapy

Why Couple Therapy?

Couple therapy can be helpful to help you and your partner work on communication, improve your sex life, build trust, heal after a crisis (e.g., infidelity), and decide if and how to save the relationship. Having spent years conducting research on relationships, separation, divorce, and attraction, we have a special affinity for working with couples.

No Stigma

There is absolutely no shame in seeking help for your relationship. Seeing a therapist does not mean that something is wrong with your relationship, or that your relationship is certainly about to fall apart. Rather, it means that you appreciate having a neutral, trained professional help build a safe space for you and your partner to share thoughts and feelings. Doing so can potentially help foster vulnerability, connection, love, and ultimately greater satisfaction between you and your partner.

SESSION LENGTH

The first session of couple therapy is always the extended 75 minute session, because there is a lot of background information to go over for both members of the couple. Subsequent sessions are typically 75 minutes as well to allow for enough time for both partners to share their thoughts and feelings, and work on the relationship.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Whether you and your partner have been married for decades, or you have only recently started dating, there is no minimum or maximum requirement in relationship length to attend couple therapy. Also, all types of relationship types are welcome. We also work with queer couples, couples in open relationships, and poly relationships.
