About Kyla

In therapy, I believe it’s important to explore your emotions while also considering your unique lived experiences, the broader societal circumstances, and the different aspects of your identity. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, struggling with your identity, or finding it difficult to navigate life transitions. I believe our emotions and experiences do not happen in isolation – our culture, values, and social environments shape how we understand ourselves. I aim to create an open space to understand you and your story, while working with you to make meaningful change.

Everyone comes into therapy with different backgrounds and experiences, so every session will look a little different. That being said, my therapeutic style takes on an anti-oppressive, intersectional, and person-centered approach where I invite open conversation along with various modalities such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).

If this aligns with what you are looking for or if you would like to know more about me or my therapeutic style, feel free to book a free 15-minute consultation call or a first session. I am excited to get to know you. If we aren’t the right fit, I’m happy to connect you with another therapist.

Therapy with Kyla

My therapeutic style is very collaborative and conversational. I will follow your lead as you set the pace, and I will create a warm and safe space for you to discuss anything you would like to bring into the room. Our sessions will involve diving deeper into the topics you bring in, reflecting on your experiences and at times, inviting you to explore different perspectives.

Kyla’s Story

Having lived with anaphylactic food allergies my entire life, I have firsthand experience navigating the anxiety, both personal and parental, that can come with food allergies. I understand the uncertainty that comes with wanting to feel safe while not wanting anxiety to take control of your life. My lived experiences have shaped my interest in supporting individuals and their families who are navigating food allergy anxiety, as well as the broader challenges that may come with anxiety. Whether you are navigating anxiety, adjusting to new life stages, or trying to better understand yourself, I want to provide a space where you can pause, focus on the things that matter to you, and explore your place within the world. Ultimately, my goal is to work alongside you to create meaningful change that aligns with your values.
