About Rafeah

As the child of immigrants, I know how hard it can be to prioritize mental health, especially in cultures where it is stigmatized. That is why I believe that seeking therapy is a courageous act of self-care, particularly when navigating the isolation of anxiety, depression, or other life challenges. I take an intersectional approach to therapy, understanding how culture, race, gender, and unseen identities shape well-being. I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your emotions without having to justify them. I do not believe that one part of our identity defines us—instead, I work with you to uncover strengths, foster growth, and create meaningful change that reflects your lived experiences and the larger context of your life.

I provide solution-focused and culturally sensitive therapy to help explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, uncovering the roots of struggles and developing practical strategies for growth and healing. I also consider the intersectional aspects of your identity—such as culture, race, gender, and life context—to ensure that the changes we work toward are relevant, meaningful, and practical for your unique circumstances, all within a safe, non-judgmental space.

I know that taking the first step in therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face it alone. If you’re ready to explore how I can support your healing and growth, I invite you to reach out. You can book a session or a free 15-minute phone consultation using the links on this page. Even if I’m not the best fit, I’ll gladly help you connect with someone who is.

Therapy with Rafeah

Navigating the isolation of anxiety, depression, or life’s other challenges takes courage, and seeking help is a commendable first step. As a visibly Muslim, hijab-wearing, South Asian woman, I understand firsthand the complexities of navigating mental health while balancing cultural expectations, systemic barriers, and personal growth. These experiences deeply inform my approach to therapy, allowing me to offer a compassionate, culturally sensitive space where your unique identity is respected and understood. Together, we will explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours to uncover the roots of your struggles and work toward meaningful change. I take an intersectional approach, considering how culture, race, gender, and other aspects of identity shape your experiences. Whether you’re new to therapy or returning, I’ll meet you where you are, helping you develop practical strategies for healing and growth that align with your life and circumstances.
