About Dom
Hello! I am so glad that you are here. If you are exploring therapy, you may be carrying something heavy—grief that feels hard to name, struggles that have piled up over time, or a sense of confusion about where you are and where you want to go. You might be navigating a transition, longing for deeper connection, or simply wanting a space where you can be heard without judgment. Whatever brings you here, I’m honoured to walk with you as you take this step of care for yourself.
While I tailor therapy to your unique needs, I lean toward a relational and psychodynamic approach. I believe healing happens within the safety, trust, and authenticity of a relationship. My hope is to offer a space where you can process grief, untangle struggles, set down the weight you’ve been carrying, and explore what feels confusing or overwhelming. We will work at your pace toward what matters most to you—whether that involves deepening your connection with yourself, understanding your emotional world, strengthening relationships, finding clarity in your vocational future, or anything else you are seeking support for. Your reasons for coming to therapy are valid, and there is room for all of them.
My commitment to relational work is grounded in the many communities and cultures that have shaped my life. In Toronto, as well as in places I’ve lived or travelled—stretching from South Africa to China and several countries in between—I have been deeply impacted by the people who welcomed me into their stories. These relationships gave me the opportunity to honour difference, value collective belonging, and to see the world through a wider lens. I also came to understand that the symptoms we carry often reflect harm caused by certain systems and structures, and that healing is not about becoming more resilient, but about creating healthy boundaries and protective limits.
These experiences shape how I show up in the therapy room: with curiosity, cultural humility, and a deep respect for the ways you have met and responded to experiences that may have ranged from stressful to overwhelming, painful, or even deeply wounding. I love meeting new people and count it an honour and a privilege to journey alongside you. I trust we will discover insight, strength, and healing that feels grounded, meaningful, and honours who you are.
Still wondering if therapy would be helpful for you? Feel free to email me or book a free 15-minute phone consulation–I would be happy to answer any questions that you might have. Even if you and I are not the right fit, I would be happy to help you find the right therapist for you. Also, you can learn more about how I do individual therapy by viewing my webpage.
Dom’s Story
My becoming a therapist was not a single decision, it unfolded through experiences that quietly and persistently shaped me. My own time in therapy gave me space to work through complex and painful family dynamics and to process trauma in ways that changed my relationship with myself and with others. Experiencing that kind of healing helped me understand what becomes possible when we are met with care, curiosity and compassion.
Along the way, I also had the honour of mentoring undergraduate students, many of whom were first- or second-generation Canadians navigating cultural identity, belonging and transition. Walking alongside students from around the world, I became deeply curious about what enables change and healing to truly last. That curiosity led me to pursue my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
Today, this work feels like a calling, one shaped by lived experience, meaningful relationships, and a deep respect for the courage it takes to show up for yourself. The growth I’ve experienced (and continue to experience) is what I now offer in my work with clients: a steady, supportive space where healing, insight, and connection can unfold at your own pace.
Therapy with Dom
In our first session, we’ll take some time to get to know a little about you–your favorite hobbies and interests, the people who are important to you, and the activities and work you value. We’ll also talk about what has been on your mind and what is bringing you to therapy. Finally we’ll explore what you hope to experience from therapy, moving at a pace that feels right for you. In future sessions, we will work toward your goals together, focusing on the topics that matter most to you each time that we meet.
