About Joseph
We all come from different walks of life, each of us carrying a unique story. Being unique means that we also bring different outlooks on the world, which deserve to be appreciated in their own light. As a therapist, I see my role as someone who walks alongside you, never telling you how to feel, but helping you explore how life experiences shape our feelings and worldview. Through this, I aim to support you to navigate the world with greater confidence and insight into yourself. My office is a judgment-free space, and along with active listening, I apply Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing techniques to help you explore your emotions and personal stories. While continuing to build trust with each other, we can expand our toolbox as I use other modalities, such as Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Spiritual Care, and Mindfulness, to help you achieve your goals.
It would be my pleasure to meet you! You are more than welcome to book a session or a free 15-minute phone consultation using the links on this page, to learn more about my approach and how we might work together. Therapy is about building a relationship, so if we meet and you feel I am not the right fit to work with you, I will make sure to connect you with a therapist who is right for you!
Therapy with Joseph
It is my personal commitment that you feel heard, understood, and validated, while never feeling judged. In our first session, we will explore: 1) Your personal story, 2) Your main concerns, in detail, and, 3) Your goals for therapy. Then, in future sessions, we will work together to achieve those goals. Throughout our work, you will often hear me say, “Trust yourself, and trust in the process!”
Joseph’s Story
I came to Canada with my parents when I was just 5 months old. As a member of an ethnic minority, I share the memories of my ancestors, and I also understand generational and religious trauma. Growing up, I continually balanced two cultures, while trying to stay true to both. At times, I struggled with my faith and spirituality, questioning, “What is my identity? Who am I called to be?” In searching for these answers, I grew fond of learning about new cultures
and understanding how others find meaning in their lives.
In 2019, I completed a PhD in Social-Cultural Anthropology, but after struggles with my health and my career as an anthropologist, I decided to pursue therapy as a full-time vocation. As a husband, a father of a young child, and an active member in my community, I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself. I truly believe that we all have unique stories and experiences that make this world a better place. What chapter of your story do you find yourself in?
Whatever your answer, it would be my privilege to embark on this journey with you!
