About Kiara’s Credentials
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor (Honours) degree in Psychology from York University.
About Kiara
Trauma can profoundly alter how we view ourselves, others, and the world. You might feel guilty, ashamed or overwhelmed thinking of your past experiences. It’s common to find it hard to trust others and to feel anxious about the safety of the world around you. You may be grappling with your identity, feeling disconnected from yourself, or overwhelmed by emotions. Despite the challenges you encounter, my goal is to ensure you feel not only supported but truly understood, acknowledged, and empowered.
My practice blends different approaches, tailored to meet your needs. With specialized training in trauma focussed therapies and perinatal mental health, I am equipped to support you through the challenges you are facing. My goal is to help you better understand yourself and your experiences, build skills to help you through difficult times, and facilitate change through empowerment.
Asking for help isn’t easy, especially if you have been facing these challenges alone for a long time. I believe that change is possible for you, and that we can work together to help you feel better. If you would like to learn more about my approach, and see if we are a good fit, I welcome you to book a free consultation.
Therapy with Kiara
Each person’s journey and experiences are different, requiring a unique approach. With specialized training in both structured and unstructured modalities, I will work with you to create a treatment plan that blends different types of therapy to help work towards your goals. If you have tried therapy before, and it didn’t meet your needs, know that change is still possible.
Kiara’s Story
My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own lived experiences navigating identity and mental health. These challenges, while tough, fostered a profound understanding of the impacts of mental health. This ignited my passion to help others who find themselves struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, gender and sexual identity. Before my clinical work as a therapist, I dedicated myself to supporting my community through shelters and organizations that focused on women, sex workers, and the 2SLGBTQ+ community. My commitment to advocacy and support continues to guide my work, as I aim to empower by equipping clients with the skills and understanding needed to make change, foster resilience and move towards healing.
