About Amman
One human need that is consistent worldwide, transcending borders and cultures, is to have a confidante. I am someone with a deep-rooted passion for helping people; I strive to give others the opportunity to express themselves while I serve as an active listener, offering an empathetic ear. A strong therapeutic alliance is a vital component of successful therapy, and I approach this work with a spirit of collaboration, focused on mutual respect. I aim to be a source of support on your therapeutic journey, helping you move forward whether you are facing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, or other concerns.
As a South Asian, British immigrant to Canada, I have become comfortable relating to people of all backgrounds. I am a firm believer we can change our narratives, and I provide a safe and non-judgemental space to allow you the opportunity for deeper reflection and understanding. I primarily work from a solution-focused approach, in addition to using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT); however, I believe therapy is unique to every individual, and therefore I adjust my approach to best meet your needs.
Whenever you are ready, I am here to support you in reaching your goals. I am available for therapy both virtually (over phone or video) and in-person in Mississauga, so I invite you to book a session or a free 15-minute phone consultation using the links on this page, or reach out if you have any questions. Even if you and I are not the right fit to work together, I would be happy to help you find the right therapist for you.
Amman’s Story
My journey toward becoming a therapist began with my friends and family suggesting I would be great in such a role, based on the empathetic ear and support I have always provided to them. Psychology has always been an area of interest to me; I find the mind to be fascinating, particularly its ability to change and adapt, and I soon realised that the field of psychology was the perfect career for me. I understand firsthand the experience of being a newcomer to Canada and navigating the changes that come with that, and I also personally understand issues involving feminism and belonging to a visible minority group. There are so many things that unite us as humans, and I find it deeply rewarding to be able to offer support to others through my work. I look forward to hearing your story, in turn, should we have the chance to connect.
