About Thao
Your story, experiences, and challenges are uniquely yours, and therapy should be too. I believe our experiences, relationships, identities, and environments shape how we see ourselves and the world around us. My own experiences have deepened my appreciation for how important it is to feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. My goal is to offer a collaborative space to explore your experiences, understand the patterns that may be affecting you or your relationships, and work toward the changes that matter to you.
You are the expert in your own life. My role is to meet you where you are with compassion, empathy, and curiosity, helping you make sense of what brought you here and supporting you in where you want to go.
I work with youth, adults, and couples navigating a range of mental health, relational, and life challenges. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, adapting our work to what feels most helpful for you. Together, we can build on your strengths, develop practical tools, and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and finding someone you feel comfortable with matters. If you’re considering therapy, I’d be happy to connect, learn more about what brings you here, and see if we might be a good fit. Feel free to call or email with any questions, book a session, or schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.
Therapy with Thao
Therapy with me is collaborative, curious, and grounded in understanding you as a person. I aim to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where we can explore the intersections of your relationships, identity, and experiences, and how they shape what you’re going through. Together, we can work toward the growth and changes you want to see in your life.
Thao’s Story
My journey to becoming a therapist began with my own experience navigating mental health within the context of culture, family, and identity. I learned that it wasn’t simply about knowing what mental health is – it was about finding a practitioner who would listen and understand the personal experiences surrounding it. Well-intentioned advice like “find ways to focus on yourself” didn’t always resonate. While meant to encourage self-care, it didn’t reflect how deeply I value my family and the responsibility I feel toward them.
Through my work with children, adults, and families, I saw similar gaps in support. Seeing these experiences reinforced what I had come to understand in my own life: people need care that considers the whole context of their lives. This strengthened my desire to provide care that is individualized and grounded in where each person is coming from. Ultimately, these experiences led me to become the kind of therapist once needed.
