About Theepana
I am a dedicated therapist who embraces a client-centered and holistic approach to therapy. I believe that healing begins with feeling truly seen and heard, and I strive to create a warm, safe, and judgment-free space where you can share your story without fear. Every individual is unique, shaped by their experiences , relationships, and the challenges they have faced. My role is to walk alongside you in your journey, offering support, insight, and encouragement as you navigate through life’s complexities.
With a deep understanding of trauma, addiction, and the impact of systemic challenges, I integrate various therapeutic modalities tailored to your needs. Through my experience working front-line crises with individuals facing severe and persistent mental health concerns, as well as those affected by displacement and reintegration into society, I recognize the importance of culturally sensitive, compassionate, and empowering therapy. I specialize in CBT, EFT, and psychodynamic therapy to support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and personal growth.
I am committed to fostering a collaborative and non-judgmental therapeutic alliance, where you are not just a client but the expert in your own life. Together, we will explore your story, redefine challenges as opportunities for growth, and build resilience so that you can move toward healing and self-discovery.
I know how difficult it can be to open up about your struggles, especially when dealing with trauma, addiction, or major life transitions. I prioritize creating a warm, safe and judgement-free space where you feel truly heard and supported. Healing happens in connection, and I believe in working collaboratively to explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you. With expertise in trauma, addiction and reintegration, I use a collaborative, strength-based approach to help you regain control and find meaning. Using modalities like CBT, EFT, and psychodynamic therapy, I will help you navigate emotions, break unhelpful patterns, and build resilience. Together, we will foster self-awareness, redefine your narrative, and create a path toward healing and growth.
Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate this journey alone. I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and judgment-free space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. Theepana’s Story
My path to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. My parents immigrated from Sri Lanka, fleeing the trauma of war. Growing up, I witnessed the impact of their experiences and how trauma shaped their lives in ways that were never spoken about. This early exposure to the lasting effects of displacement and war ignited my passion for understanding trauma and supporting those navigating its impact.
This desire led me to frontline crisis work, where I worked with individuals facing severe and persistent mental health challenges. When I learned about the 2016 wildfires in Fort McMurray, I made the choice to pack my bags and relocate, determined to support individuals facing loss, displacement, and uncertainty. It was a life changing experience that I am deeply grateful for, shaping my commitment to helping others through crisis and recovery. A significant part of my work involved connecting people to crisis resources, yet I found myself wanting to do more than must provide immediate support, I wanted to be a part of their journey to recovery and healing. Therapy allows me to do just that. My experiences have given me a deep understanding of resilience, trauma, and the need for culturally sensitive care. Now, I create a safe and compassionate space for others to share their stories, process their pain, and move toward healing on their own terms.
