About Anna

I believe that therapy is about deepening one’s relationship with themselves, which in turn opens the door to deepened connection with important others and one’s daily living. Therapy can be a creative process. Often, it is our darkest moments which contain the seeds of our greatest insights, meaning and vitality. By learning how to sit with challenging experiences, emotions and inner conflicts, we create space for healing and opportunities to experiment creatively with new ways of being. My goal is to offer a supportive environment in which this process can unfold.

I support clients with gaining insight and self-awareness, as well as developing new skills to support emotional regulation, meaning-making and strengthened interpersonal relationships. I take a client-centered approach, meaning that I follow your lead, as I believe that only you can find the right path forward for yourself. I draw on emotion-focused, relational psychodynamic, and existential-humanistic approaches.

If you would like more information regarding my approach to therapy, feel free to view my webpage. If you have any questions, you can reach out to me by email or phone, or book a free 15 minute phone consultation.

Therapy with Anna

Our emotional life contains important information about our needs and what we care about most. Emotions can also be overwhelming or difficult to access. I support clients with relating to emotions in ways that bring greater clarity, integration, and energy for living. Sometimes, this requires processing events from our past so that we can respond with greater flexibility and freedom rather than repeating the same story again and again.

I am also relational in my approach. By noticing what comes up in the therapeutic relationship, I can help you recognize patterns in your ways of relating to others and explore new ways of connecting that strengthen your relationships.

Finally, I am strengths-based, meaning that I intentionally highlight your unique resources as a person, your positive qualities and capacities that we can build on in our work.

Anna’s Story

I have worked for nearly ten years in front-line roles in shelters, supportive housing and community outreach. In this context, I have developed a strong harm-reduction and anti-oppressive philosophy, something I also carry into my clinical work.

I also completed graduate training in philosophy at the University of Toronto, where I developed a particular interest in existentialism and phenomenology. In my work as a therapist, I practice embodied or applied philosophy through embracing the difficult questions and ongoing process of meaning-making with clients.
