About Jasmine
I believe that each person is on a distinct journey, shaped by both unconscious influences and the stories they construct about themselves. Our unique paths are informed by early life experiences, internal conflicts, and the narratives we have developed to make sense of our world. These narratives, often influenced by past relationships and unconscious dynamics, guide our perceptions and interactions, as is evident when two people share the same event but interpret it differently.
I view each person as an integrated whole, with their emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual dimensions all intricately connected. This perspective recognizes that the stories we tell about ourselves—shaped by both conscious choices and unconscious processes—play a vital role in how we understand our identity and navigate the world. Therapy, from this viewpoint, involves helping individuals explore the narratives they have constructed and uncover the underlying dynamics that shape them. By recognizing how past experiences influence our current story, we can begin to rewrite parts of it, creating more empowering and healing meanings.
I work with individuals by engaging with their personal stories, focusing on how they have made meaning of their experiences and how these meanings have shaped their present challenges. Through this process, I help individuals explore both their strengths and the unconscious factors influencing their perceptions, allowing them to gain insight into their patterns of behaviour and emotional responses. Whether you are seeking to better understand yourself or to navigate a particular challenge, my aim is to collaborate with you in creating a therapeutic approach that honours your unique narrative and supports your growth and transformation.
I create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore and share your personal story. This environment fosters a deep sense of trust and openness, allowing for self-reflection and insight. My approach is anti-oppressive and strength-based, grounded in the belief that every individual possesses intrinsic worth and that there is always the potential for healing and growth, no matter the circumstances.
In our work together, you are the expert on your own life, and my role includes listening closely to the narrative you have constructed about yourself and your experiences. As we continue this process, I help you connect the dots, examine the underlying unconscious factors that shape your story, and deconstruct any limiting beliefs or patterns that may be holding you back. By uncovering deeper meanings, we can better understand how your past influences your present and begin to shift the narrative in a way that fosters empowerment and healing.
As your psychotherapist, my aim is to offer support, strategies, and tools that enhance your sense of well-being. Together, we will navigate your experiences and concerns, working collaboratively to identify solutions that resonate with your unique journey. It is important to remember: you are not the problem; the problem is the problem! We will approach the issues you face with curiosity and compassion, seeking to rewrite the narrative in a way that aligns with your true self.
I am here to provide support however I can, so if you would like more information, including about my individual therapy approach, please feel free to reach out with any questions. Jasmine’s Story
My journey toward becoming a therapist is deeply rooted in my personal experiences, shaped by both unconscious dynamics and the stories I have come to understand about myself and my family. As an immigrant to Canada with my family, we faced not only the challenges of culture shock and financial hardship, but also a lack of mental health awareness within our community. These early experiences, both collective and individual, ignited a desire in me to pursue a career in mental health.
Throughout those challenging years, the meaningful connections and shared stories within my family became a source of strength. Growing up in a large family of eight, we weathered financial struggles together, but each of us responded to these circumstances differently, shaped by our unique emotional responses and the narratives we constructed around our experiences. While we shared the same struggles, the impact was profoundly different for each person, highlighting the power of individual perception and the meaning we assign to events.
This understanding is why I embrace a holistic and psychodynamic approach to therapy. I have learned the importance of considering the whole person—including their past, unconscious influences, and how they interpret their experiences. Reflecting on my family’s journey, I recognize that therapy could have offered valuable support in navigating those difficult times, helping us understand and address the deeper emotional currents at play. That realization has fueled my passion to help others who are seeking assistance, knowing that therapy has the potential to unravel unconscious patterns and reshape life stories in a way that fosters healing and growth. I truly believe therapy can transform lives, offering a space to rewrite the narratives that hold us back and creating possibilities for change.
