About Melanie

Imagine stepping into a space where science and art harmonize together, where your mental health journey is met with both understanding and creativity. This is the heart (and brain) of my therapy practice, which vividly blends neuroscience, cognitive-behavioural precision, psychodynamic depth, and the flexibility to weave in other modalities that resonate with you. I invite you on an exploration as unique as you are, where empathy lights the way, offering hope, safety, and a supportive space to navigate the ebbs and flows of mental health. You are not alone, and I am so proud of you for taking this step!

My own journey, which involved overcoming the challenges of being unable to read until the third grade, taught me the power of finding alternative paths. Through music, I brain-hacked my way to literacy and self-esteem, a testament to the idea that no obstacle is insurmountable with creativity, commitment, and the right support. This personal victory fuels my belief that for every individual, regardless of the cards they are dealt—be it learning disabilities, behavioural disorders, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, trauma, family conflict, or any other challenge—there exists a multitude of paths to a fulfilling life.

If you are drawn to a journey that honours both precision and intuition, seeking extraordinary possibilities in every situation, let’s discover how your own path might unfold most vibrantly. Remember, every challenge presents multiple solutions: don’t let the cards you are dealt hold you back. Together, we can find a route that leads you to a happy, satisfying life.

Where does transformation begin? Is it in the synapses of our brains, firing with the electricity of thought and feeling, or within the stories we tell ourselves, rich with meaning and emotion?

The answer lies at the intersection of neuroscience and human experience—a place where understanding the biological underpinnings of our thoughts and behaviours meets the depth of our personal narratives. Here, we embark upon a journey of change, growth, and healing, integrating the knowledge of science and the art of psychotherapy to navigate the complexities of the human condition.

Beginning therapy is a brave step toward understanding and growth. If you are curious about how we might work together to navigate your journey, I am here to listen and support you. Let’s start with a conversation: you can book either a free 15-minute consultation or a first session with me, to explore how I can help you or otherwise guide you toward finding the right support for you.

Melanie’s Story

From my experience overcoming dyslexia and the bullying that came with it, I learned early in life that being “different” was not a detriment, but a strength. This journey was not just about learning to read; it was about “brain hacking” my way through these challenges, transforming them into the fuel that propelled me forward. It taught me about the incredible adaptability and uniqueness of the human brain, igniting a lifelong fascination with it and a desire to delve deeper into its mysteries. Beyond my academic pursuits in neuroscience and psychology, my core has always been drawn toward helping others. This drive to be a helper, to shine a light on the potential within each person, and to spread joy has guided me to where I am today. As a therapist, I blend scientific understanding with empathetic care, aiming to ensure no one ever feels too low, inadequate, or alone in their struggles. It is my mission to help others find sunshine and live their fullest lives, turning “different” into “extraordinary.”

Therapy with Melanie

In therapy, we start by addressing immediate concerns, applying a “triage approach” to provide quick relief for pressing issues. We then delve deeper, exploring underlying causes and working toward long-term healing. Our sessions are a blend of science-informed strategies and personalized care, aimed at navigating life’s challenges and working together to achieve your therapeutic goals.
