About Samir

Reaching out for support during challenging times can be the most difficult first step—I commend you for having the courage to see what therapy can offer for you! As a person of colour and member of the LGBTQ+ communities, I have personal lived experience and a special understanding of what it’s like to operate in various spaces and move throughout the world. I’ve had a long-standing curiosity and background in exploring sexual health, resilience, wellbeing and challenges that uniquely affect intersecting communities of colour, gender and sexuality and I’m grateful to have supported numerous individuals who went through a difficult time in their life, dealt with a mental health concern, or wanted to explore more about themselves.

During our time together, I hope to get to know you, help identify your challenges, and use your strengths to create goals that fit your unique life, and offer you a path towards more fulfilled living and well-being. I offer you a safe, non-judgemental space within which you can freely explore anything that is important for you to discuss. By working together, I will help you create a healthier relationship with yourself and others, help you explore the underlying causes for problems you may be facing, and provide you with tools to support you in your journey towards a happier and fulfilled life.

If you think I could be the right therapist for you, please feel free to reach out. Using the links on this page, you can book a session or a consultation with me. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation, and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. If after chatting, it doesn’t feel like a good fit, know that I’m happy to connect you to someone else who is.

Therapy with Samir

During our first session, I would like to spend some time getting to know you better. We’ll talk about you: who you are, what your life is like, who’s in your life, and more. Then, we’ll talk about why you have decided to come to therapy and together we will set goals for what you hope to achieve during our time together.

Samir’s Story

My journey to becoming a therapist was motivated by my curiosity to better understand the causes of psychological distress I witnessed both in myself and others. This led me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Psychology, and then a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. During this time, I worked with many types of clients in a variety of settings, including telephone distress centres, community mental health clinics, and student counselling centres. Now as a psychotherapist, I love witnessing first-hand the potential for growth, change, resilience, and wellness among my clients and I look forward to all the great work you and I can do together.
